Terms & Conditions

Summary

Navigate Psychology is committed to providing high-quality psychological services for children, young people, and families. We outline our terms and conditions so that you understand what to expect from us and what we require. Before beginning any work, we will provide clear information regarding our services, costs, payment terms, cancellation policies, and confidentiality.

What We Expect from You

By engaging with Navigate Psychology, you confirm that you have the authority to consent to services for yourself or your child. You agree to provide accurate and relevant information to ensure appropriate psychological support. Before commencing services, a referral form or initial discussion may be required to help us tailor our approach to your needs.

What You Can Expect from Us

We follow ethical and professional guidelines as outlined by the New Zealand Psychologists Board (NZPB) and the Health and Disability Code of Rights. Our commitments include:

  • Providing evidence-based psychological assessments, therapy, and interventions.
  • Working within the limits of our professional knowledge and expertise.
  • Maintaining clear communication with clients and families.
  • Upholding confidentiality, with exceptions outlined below.
  • Acting in the best interests of children and young people.
  • Keeping records of sessions and treatment plans securely.
Consent

We require informed consent before commencing services. For children and young people under 16, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent. Informed consent means understanding the nature of our services, potential benefits, and any risks involved.

Confidentiality

We take confidentiality seriously and adhere to the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code. Your information will be kept private except in the following circumstances:

  • If there is a risk of harm to yourself, your child, or others.
  • If required by law (e.g., court orders, Oranga Tamariki concerns).
  • If sharing information with relevant professionals (e.g., schools, GPs, allied health providers) is in your child’s best interest. This will be discussed with you beforehand.
Fees and Payment
  • Fees for services will be outlined before commencing work.
  • Payment is required when booking for initial consultations, assessments, and therapy sessions.
  • We accept payment via bank transfer, credit/debit card, or online payment.
  • A detailed invoice can be provided upon request.
  • Unpaid invoices may incur late fees or result in services being paused until payment is received.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
  • If you cancel an appointment with less than 48 hours (working day) notice, you will be charged the full session fee.
  • If we need to cancel an appointment, we will offer an alternative time or a full refund.
  • Repeated missed appointments may result in a review of continued service provision.
Reports and Documentation
  • Reports requested after an assessment or period of intervention will be charged separately.
  • The cost of reports will be agreed upon before they are written.
  • Reports are most effective when completed promptly after sessions; we may be unable to provide detailed reports following a long break in engagement.
Complaints and Feedback

We are committed to delivering high-quality services. If you have concerns about our services, please speak with us directly. If an issue cannot be resolved informally, you may submit a formal complaint, which will be reviewed and responded to within 14 days. You may also contact the New Zealand Psychologists Board for further guidance on complaints.
